I've always been interested in how people use technology. As an an undergrad I studied Science & Technology in Society and Psychology, which gave me two somewhat separate perspectives on technology and human cognition and behavior. Having been in both the Human-Computer Interaction lab and the Interactive Cognitive Lab in a Cognitive Science department is a lovely blend of these interests. Broadly speaking, I'm interested in the following HCI-related topics:
- Social search
- Ethnography for human-computer interaction design
- Building a bridge between digital and physical environments
- Sensemaking and knowledge management
- Social participation in online communities
- Information visualization
- Distributed cognition
