Sanjay Kairam and I submitted a beginner’s panel proposal on social search to SXSW’10. But in order to present the panel, we need to get a lot of community votes! Even if you’re not going to SXSW next year, you can vote and your vote will count! Click here to vote!
A short description of the panel and a general list of questions that we’ll cover is replicated below:
We’ve got social networks and we’ve got search engines, but is social search merely the combination of the two? Learn what social search is and what it isn’t, who’s working on it and getting it right, and hear expert perspectives on making search and discovery more relevant to users.
We’ll cover the following questions on the panel:
- What is social search?
- Is social search even all that different from “non-social” search?
- Why is social search relevant for real-time search?
- Will certain communities be more likely to answer questions than others?
- How do you incentivize friends to answer questions?
- How will social search help users find more personally relevant content?
- Will social search overtake Google?
- What are the key issues to consider when it comes to social search?
- What are some design challenges for social search?
- What does personalization have to do with social search?
Voting will remain open until September 4, 2009. Thank you!
