The hummingbird babies have been out-of-shell for a whole day now—beginning the trek for day 2!
You can get a better sense of the size of the nest in this image. It’s about the size of a 1-year old’s fist; the opening (base) could fit a quarter.

Of course, then there’s my gigantic thumb for scale. I could squash both babies with my one thumb! (But I won’t!)

Here they are: tweetle-dee and tweetle-dum! (Still searching for better names). You can see that both hatchlings would fit on my quarter.
