Cogenz

  • sadly not impressed with the demo video here: http://blog.cogenz.com/. this looks like a del.icio.us clone simply marketed for the enterprise. surely we can do better than this? a question i think would help: for those users who won’t/don’t adopt a system like this, why?

Sorry our demo video didn’t impress you, Brynn. Not quite sure what you were expecting. We do say that our service is based on the concept of del.icio.us for the enterprise though, so I’m not going to apologise for that. Not sure I completely understand why the question you pose would help make things any better. Perhaps you can elaborate?

Hi Niall, I imagine that enterprise users will face problems in their daily handling of information that would require a different set of bookmarking/tagging features. My approach to designing systems like this would be to talk to a workgroup within a company and study their information search/retrieval/sharing patterns, and especially pay attention to where there are break-downs in the process. Additionally, I’d want to know from folks who haven’t or wouldn’t adopt a system like this what their reasons are. There may be aspects of different methods of information organization and sharing that would inform the design of tagging systems. Does that help clarify my comment somewhat? Thanks for your post!

Thanks Brynn. Funnily enough, that’s kinda how Cogenz came about, but I take the point that each company’s workflow (and therefore ideal system) could be different.
